Jesus, the Savior of the World

December 15, 2016

And we have seen and testify that

that the Father has sent his Son to

be the Savior of the world.

1 John 4:14

We all know the Christmas story. This is the time of year we celebrate His birth. This is the time of year more people are open to hearing about Jesus. Do you think God can use this time? I’m pretty sure He can and does. Think about it! We pray for open hearts for our prodigals and for their hearts to be softened. We ask that God reveal Himself.

This is what He did at Christmas. Now, 2000 years later, we still celebrate it! It’s pretty amazing. This is the time of year that the atmosphere can change because people aren’t so closed off. This is the time of year that God can more easily get a hold of someone. If God works in a person’s life to draw them to Himself and Christmas is a time when their guard is down, then we should take advantage of this by praying all the more.

We do not know what it will take for our prodigal to return. We don’t know what will open their eyes to the light of the gospel. We don’t know what keeps them from truly seeing Jesus. But we do know that God loves them and that He sent His Son, Jesus, into the world to save it. We know that He loves our prodigals and longs for them to return to Him. We know that God alone knows what is needed. He is our hope!

Jesus is the Savior of the world. It’s why He was born. . Jesus was also born to reveal God to us. Let’s pray this season that our prodigals are touched in some way by the birth of Jesus…that whatever is keeping them from seeing Him will be stripped away. Because we know “Nothing in creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.” (Hebrews 4:13) And the verse before that? “For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates to even dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12) Pray that the Word of God is heard and it penetrates. We know that God’s word that goes out from His mouth will not return to Him empty, but will accomplish what He desires and achieve the purpose for which He sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)

Thank You Jesus for being our Savior! Thank You for being born so that we could know what You are like, God. We pray that our prodigals, who You love even more than we do, will be touched this Christmas by your love; that the birth of Jesus will seem real all of a sudden and they will have a desire to think on His birth and how He is the Savior. That this Christmas will be a starting point or a continuation of the work that has begun so that we will see more and more of them returning to You. We thank You and praise You for the progress we have seen in some of our prodigals; for the ones who have returned. Let it be a sign of many more returning. We will keep praying and never give up. We will pray for as long as it takes. We pray that Your word that goes out to them will penetrate and we claim that it will accomplish all that You desire and achieve the purpose for which You send it. We place them daily in Your hands and say we trust You Lord! You are our hope! You are the Savior of the world!

Strange Way to Save the World by 4 Him

Sure he must have been surprised
At where this road had taken him
'Cause never in a million lives
Would he had dreamed of Bethlehem
And standing at the manger
He saw with his own eyes
The message from the angel come to life
And Joseph said...

Why me, I'm just a simple man of trade
Why Him, with all the rulers in the world
Why here inside a stable filled with hay
Why her, she's just an ordinary girl
Now I'm not one to second guess what angels have to say
But this is such a strange way to save the world

To think of how it could have been
If Jesus had come as He deserved
There would have been no Bethlehem
No lowly shepherds at His birth
But Joseph knew the reason
The love had to reach so far
And as he held the Savior in his arms
He must have thought...
