The Future of This Blog

For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those

who are being saved and those who are perishing.

2 Corinthians 2:15

My website, The Father's Heart, is intended to be for Christians, but there is an element of writing that is for the unbeliever as well. It is my desire that everything I write is a sweet aroma to God, and that we are to God the aroma of Christ as the above verse tells us. With that in mind...

I want to take a few minutes to touch base with my readers and let you know about a few changes I want to make to my website and blog. Right now I have two categories: Blog and Prodigals. Everything I have written except posts for those with prodigals have fallen under Blog. I would like to keep the Blog as only personal interaction with my readers and put my other writings in four new categories in addition to Prodigals: Defending the Faith, Truth vs. Error, Eschatology, and Christian Living. I will give you a basic summary of each:

Defending the Faith will be mostly about potential ways to engage non-believers in conversation about areas of faith and Jesus, and to build a case for Christianity. Some posts will be designed to help you understand what Christians are up against and the importance of being prepared to give an answer to anyone who asks you about the hope you have in your Christian life (1 Pet 3:15).

Truth vs. Error will primarily cover what the Bible says about false teaching in the last days and how it relates to what is being taught now by those who teach something different from what the Bible says. If you've been reading for awhile, you will remember when I introduced the NAR movement last summer, and many of the things these leaders teach contrary to traditional views of Scripture. NAR is just one example of many. I want to write in such a way that causes you to think and lets you decide.

Eschatology is a study of the end times. This subject is fascinating and one I am continually learning about as I listen, read and research. I am in a Bible Study that talks about prophecy in light of current events and gives me much to think about. I am also taking a class on Daniel which is helping me to better understand prophecy and what was and still is coming in the time of Daniel. God wants us to understand what is going to happen in the future. He blesses the one who reads the words of prophecy to the church, and listens to its message, and obeys what it says, for the time is near (Rev 1:3).

Christian Living will cover everything else I write. I have been focusing on the life of Jesus this year and will continue to do so. But at times I will write about other things too that are practical or uplifting. Scripture is God-breathed and is profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16). Using God's Word will do these four things, while my blog will focus primarily on instructing. My desire is to bring glory to God.

Obviously some topics will overlap and end up in more than one category. The Prodigal category will remain the same though I hope to write more often. I wrote a book on this topic and it continues to be close to my heart.

I first started writing when I put together a newsletter years ago. I hope to eventually add a Parenting category using the material from my newsletter. But for now, I will focus on the above. I may be getting ahead of myself since I do not actually know how to change my website and am waiting to get together with the one who created this site for me. Until then, it will look the same, but I will write more often.

Another thing I hope to do is add a few guest writers so be looking for occasional new voices in the future. I like the idea of having variety and fresh voices. Thank you all for reading my blog posts. I look forward to staying connected with you.
