Give Me Control
The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those
who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:9-10 (NIV)
Dear Little One,
What is the most significant burden you carry? What is your greatest fear? Why is it hard to give it to Me? Is it because you feel responsible? Do you think you need to prove yourself to Me or others? Does it feel like this is just the way it is? Is it pride? You don't have to bear this burden alone. Just come to Me with a willing spirit and rest in My presence. Jump up in My lap and let Me hold you. Hand whatever is holding you back over to Me. Give Me that fear or that worry that is keeping you up at night. How does your anxiety change anything? How does crippling fear move you forward?
I have a plan to redeem and restore. I am behind and before you. I can handle whatever it is that you give Me. And I relish you doing so. I love it when you come to Me and say, "Papa, I can't do this without you. I need Your help." I cherish our time together, and I want to be a shield for you. I love you that much. And I want you. I don't need you to do anything to gain acceptance. You already have it. Just come as you are with all of your junk.
Come with a willingness to let Me love you. Spend a few minutes basking in the acceptance I have for you. Remind yourself over and over again that you are My child and what it means. Think about your children and how much you love them. I am a Father to you, and if you know how much you love your children, then it won't be too hard for you to feel that love I have for you. Now think about My love and how perfect it is. Agree with Me that there is nothing you can do to separate Me from that love.
Now agree with Me that there is nothing your prodigal can do to separate Me from the love I have for them. Remember, the shepherd will leave the ninety-nine and go after the one. If you have the "one", thank Me that the Shepherd is looking for them and trust Me. Rather than get all worked up and fall into worry, think about Jesus finding them. Now think about Me waiting with open arms when they are brought safely back. How does it feel? What does the Father's heart look like to you?
Your ability to rest in this truth will be what sustains you. When you truly believe that I am who I say I am, then giving Me control will be your only recourse. You won't think about doing it another way. When you know that you know that you are loved and accepted for who you are, you will come running to the safety of my arms. When you hand over that burden, or that child that has strayed, or the worry that won't leave you alone, you will find that I take it and give you something in return. A gift. Pay attention. Do you now have peace? Do you feel joy? Are you now at rest? Are you feeling stronger? Has your mind changed in any way? Has hope returned?
When you know I want you; it will free you to take your hands off of your life and the way it should go. When you understand the love and acceptance I have for you and your prodigal, you will want to give Me control. When you focus on Me, I will not disappoint you. That "thing" or "person" you gave Me? I will do something beautiful with it, but I will do it in My time. That's what it means to give Me control.
All My love,
