The Father’s Heart

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should

be called children of God! And that is what we are!

1 John 3:1

And that is what our prodigal children are! They are King’s kids! They may have chosen not to acknowledge who they are for a time, but we know the truth! They are children of God that are deeply loved by the Father!

We know the battle is not ours, but the Lord’s, just as it was for Jehoshaphat when he defeated Moab and Ammon. Jehoshaphat told the people that they would not have to fight this battle. They were to take their positions, stand firm, and see the deliverance the Lord would give them. The next morning they set out for battle. But instead of engaging the enemy, they praised the Lord. As they began to sing, God set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and they ended up destroying one another. (2 Chronicles 20:15-23) We will take our positions and stand also…in prayer and praise. We, too, will see the Lord’s deliverance!

We will remain confident just like David knowing we will see the Your goodness, Lord, in the land of the living. We will be strong and take heart and wait for You (Psalm 27:13-14)

We will delight ourselves in You, Lord and You will give us the desires of our heart. (Psalm 37:4)

We will cast our cares on You knowing You care for us (I Peter 5:7) You will sustain us and never let us, the righteous, fall (Psalm 55:22)

We know nothing is impossible with You, God (Luke 1:37)

Father, we stand firm in our resolve to put you first. We know you will fight for us and that this battle belongs to you. You love our wayward ones more than we do. They are your children…they belong to You! So we wait…not passively, but actively! We will see Your goodness in the land of the living. Their times are in Your hands. Deliver them from their enemies and from those who pursue them (Psalm 31:15). Be merciful to them Lord and restore to them the joy of their salvation (Psalm 51:12) Show them the foolishness of their ways. We pray for the day when they will stand up and say, “How great is the love the Father has lavished on me that He should call me His child because that is who I am”
