For unto you is born this day in the city of David

a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

This Christmas, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we are reminded not only of His birth, but that He is our Savior. We remember when our children asked Jesus to be their Savior, that is, for those who have, and we find encouragement and hope that they will return and let Him be the Lord of their lives once again.

We love this time of year and what it represents…the love and majesty and wonder. Jesus came to earth for us. He stepped down from His throne, He gave up His home in Heaven; He became the least for us. Imagine, He left His beautiful, perfect home in Heaven and came to this broken world to redeem us…and yet so many rejected Him then and still do today. God, the Father, gave up His Son, so we could find forgiveness. And His love for us is bigger than all of the rejection. He does not stop pursuing us…He does not stop pursuing our wayward ones. He doesn’t reject us or any of His children, but keeps loving us no matter what. It isn’t contingent on what we do or don’t do because His love is unconditional.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present

nor the future, not any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will

be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

So since this is true; that Jesus came to earth out of love for us and there is nothing we can do to diminish that love or remove it, it only makes sense that we would pray for our King’s kids that they…

May have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you (they) may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 3:18-19

So this Christmas, as you reflect on the wonder of Jesus’ birth and all that it represents, I pray that you will find hope, the kind of hope that expects and looks forward to what’s ahead. Jesus came as a baby; He was given to us as the Savior of the world

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty

God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
